Assistant Baker Job Description:

We are looking for an assistant baker who takes pride in their work and the product they deliver. At Ancora, we are a small team. Our assistant baker works directly alongside our Head Baker helping to prep, bake, clean, and deliver our bakery for our three locations. We’re looking for a reliable, motivated individual who is able to work 30-40 hours/week. The ideal candidate would have some professional baking experience, but even just a passion for home baking would set you apart. The shift starts between 3 am and 6 am, so being an “early bird” is a must! Strong communication and respect for all team members and customers is required.

We are a well established, women-owned and operated, Madison café that expanded our operations in 2017 to include a full service kitchen. We specialize in all things brunch and are open 7 days per week. We take great pride in our business and the relationships we have built with our customers and staff over the years. Our customers have come to expect speedy, consistent, and delicious products from us, and that is what we always aim to deliver. Our staff is a tight knit family, who treats each other with respect and kindness. We have NO tolerance for bullying or any form of abuse.

Job Types Available: Full-time (30-40hrs)

Salary: $13.00 to $16.00 /hour DOE + participation in tip pool, and regular performance reviews and opportunities for growth.

Line & Prep Cook Job Description:

We are looking for cooks that like to be involved with all facets of the kitchen. At Ancora, we are a small team. Our cooks work the line, prep food, help create specials, and work closely with all team members to make sure our fast paced café is operating safely and smoothly. Everyone shares duties, including dishes. Strong communication and respect for all team members and customers is required.

** We are currently open 7-3pm (due to covid), but normal business hours are 6a-5pm with kitchen closing at 4pm. Please do not apply for this job if you are not able to show up for morning shifts. (Cooks usually report between 6-8am depending on the shift being worked). **

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Memorize all menu offerings and know how to properly execute each dish including packaging/plating in a timely manner
  • Monitor product freshness, date mark all prepped items, and rotate out old product based.
  • Ensure that the kitchen, prep areas and food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards
  • Prepping food and completing cleaning/maintenance checklist between orders

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work on your feet for eight hours a day
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time on a regular basis
  • 1 year previous cooking experience preferred
  • High level of professionalism and respect for teammates and customers
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Cleanliness and proper knowledge of food safety is key
  • Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
